Barsebäckshamn/Barsebäck port Barsebäckshamn is a fishing village that dates back to the 15th century, where still the occasional fishing cottage can be found. The fishermen by trade are almost completely gone nowadays, but there are plenty of those who enjoy fishing as a hobby. For those who'd like to try deep sea fishing, there are scheduled tours all year round. In the country, call 070-529 47 22 to make reservations. Barsebäcksverket/ Barsebäck Nuclear Power Plant Just south of Barsebäckshamn you will find Barsebäcksverket, now closed.Stenbocksvallar/Stenbocks ramparts Between Barsebäckshamn and Barsebäcks Saltsjöbad runs a trail a few kilometers along the coastline. The trail follows the ramparts made in the 18th century by Magnus Stenbock. At that time things were rough along the coatline where everyone (almost) was on the constant lookout for the "fearsefull" danes. Today one can take a peaceful walk and enjoy the view over Öresund.Gillhög One of the best kept sepulchral shambers from the stoneage in Skåne named after the Viking-chief Erik Gille. The chamber is covered by soil and is reached through a 6 meter long tunnel. A flashlight is recommended. The chamber has walls made of 12 columnlike stones and the cieling consists of three perfectly fitted blocks. The center one weighs 15 tons. Axes and arrowheads, decorated pottery, pearls of amber and of course pieces of skeleton have been found here.Barsebäcksby/Barsebäcks village Barsebäcksby still has many characteristics typical of a churchvillage with a church from the 12th century. Järavallen Järavallen is one of the largest continous recreation areas in southwestern Skåne. Järavallen holds both meadows, seashore and pineforest with a web of naturetrails. A wide variety of birds come here to breed. Not far from the nationalpark, you'll find "Järavallen Conference&Country Club" with a restaurant and lodging. In connection to the establishment is one of the most beautiful golfcourses in Sweden. A 36-hole course that regularly hosts "Volvo Scandinavian Masters", a golftournament that attracts the world-elite.Hoferups kyrka/Hofterups church This is one of the oldest stone-churches in Skåne. It's well kept apse church from the early 12th century. In the graveyard you'll find the grave of Nils Andersson, the recorder and publisher of the work "Svenska låtar" (Swedish songs).Hofterupsdösen/The Hofterup cromlech A few kilometers east of the church there is a grave from the early stoneage. It's a so called cromlech, a chamber made of great rocks originally covered with a circular or rectangularshaped mound of earth.Vikhög and SalvikenVikhög, a fishing village originating from the 19th century, is nowadays a popular guestport for leisure sailors. Northward along the coastline lies the Salviken national park with an ample birdlife.Löddeåns mynning/The mouth of Lödde stream This is where the water of Kävlingeån/Lödde å emerge after travelling 31 miles from the lake Vombsjön. The national park surrounding the mouth of the stream attracts a wide variety of birds. In order to protect the birdlife a restriction to keep off parts of the area is active from april 15th thru july 15th. All year round you may study the birdlife from a watchtower on the southside of the stream. The tower is reached from Borgeby and Löddenäs.Outside the rivermouth, you can see a bank of big stones rise up from the sea. It's about 30 m and goes by the namn "Lödde kar". The bank is supposed to be an old harbour where they reloaded the cargo from bigger boats to smaller bargers, in order to be able to continue the journey along the river. Barsebäcks Saltsjöbad/The salt lake bath of BarsebäckA nice sandbeach for tanning and swimming. Here you will also find a restaurant, playgrounds and minigolf. Camping available with or without electricity. Cottages and lodging also available.Löddeköpinge During the Viking Age Löddeköpinge was an important tradingplace with both port and rampage by Lödde stream. Archaeologists have found many remains from the period 800 BC to the end of the 11 th century. Pottery and jewellery can tell the story about tradingmen from other places in northern Europe. Today here is a large shopping center, Center Syd , that offers a wide selection of shops. This is also where you'll find Information Kävlinge - tourist- and informationcentre of Kävlinge municipality. Fredwicksfeldtska möllan in Löddeköpinge is one of the most magnificent windmills in Skåne.VikingaTider In the eastern part of Löddeköpinge is Scandinavias largest reconstruction of a landscape from the Viking age is being constructed. Here the visitors will be offered experiences from life as a Viking and achieve knowledge about how it was to live 1000 years ago. On an arable land, the size of 46 football fields, villages and farms, fields and meadows, trading places and churches will be reconstructed - just as it might have been in the Viking age.VikingaTider, Ådalsvägen 18, Löddeköpinge, tel 70 62 10, www.vikingatider.seKaraby and Dagstorps backar/Karaby and the hills of Dagstorp North of the church of Western Karaby lies one of Skånes most peculiar ancient monuments. These hills are a gravefield from the bronze-age with Vashögen as it's peak. From here you have a splendid view over Öresund, the plains towards Lund and the hights around Dagstorp church.Runstenen i Ålstorp/The Runic stone in Ålstorp Probably dates back to the mid 12th century and is to be found about a mile west of Dösjebro along the way to Saxtorp.The runic stone is made of a granite block and is about 121 cm high and 55 cm wide. On one side you can find an inscription: "Hals och Frebjörn reste dessa stenar åt minnet av deras kamrat Hove" (= Hals and Frebjörn rose these stones as a memory of their friend Hove).Bron vid Dösjebro/The Bridge at Dösjebro In the year 1770 the bridgebuilder Master Hans Nilsson built a beautiful arch bridge across Välabäcken. It still stands, at the exit from Dösjebro towards Annelöv, and is one of the oldest bridges in the province.Stävie Once appointed the most beautiful village of Skåne. Stävie is an idyllic, typical churchvillage with some half-timbered houses preserved. Stävie church dates back from the 12th century and the baptismal font is left from this time.Högsmölla/The Hög Mill The watermill is situated by Kävlingeån. It's known since the 1520's and belonged to Borgeby property at the time. These days, Högsmöllan is private property, but you are welcome to walk in these idyllic environments.Kävlinge The old church in Kävlinge is a well preserved roman apsechurch from the end of the 12th century. Next to the old church is a half-timbered house with thatched roof. Originally it was the home of the parish clerk, but now functions as a folklore museum.LöddeköpingeDuring the viking age Löddeköpinge was an important trading place with a harbour as well as a defense bank at Lödde river. The defense bank that was built in the 1000s is just as old as the ancient findings of Birka. We know that the mine houses was placed close to eachother and that the merchants lived in them during market time. They came with their boats up against the current from Öresund with ceramics, jewellery and exotic merchandises. The archaeologist has found artifacts from the entire north european area.The Fredwickfeldtska mill in Löddeköpinge is one of the finest windmills in Skåne. The mill was in use until 1930 but today, once a year, the third Sunday in August, you can still see it in use.Krutmöllan/ Gunpowder-Mill One of the best preserved millenvironments along Kävlingeån is Krutmöllan.It's called Krutmöllan because gunpowder was manufactured in the mill that exploded in the 17th century. Todays structure offers a good view of the look of a 19th century customs mill.Böösmöllan/ The Böös Mill Below Lilla Harrie on the other side of the stream, you'll find Böösmölla, named after court accountant Böös. The work and life of the family is reflected in this beautiful and well kept environment.Pegasus Trädgård och Solstället/Pegasus garden and the Sunplace Beautifully set, by Kävlingeån, Staffan Björklund's theatre runs Pegasus Trädgård - a forum for culture, ecology and inspiration. In the garden preschool-children follow the course of nature with sowing and harvest. Solstället is a building made of natural material, where the constructors have put stress upon sound materials, low energyconsumtion and possibility of recycling. The fighting stonesTwo meter high boulders are the last remains of a stone circle. There are several legends about these stones. One says that the stones where thrown by Finn the giants wife agains the cathedral of Lund. She was suppose to throw the stone with her garter, but the string broke and the stones insetad fell down in Little Harrie.Dagstorps bogNature reserveOne of Skånes last remaining marshes surrounded by brazed damp brazed meadows.The Glacé areaIn Kävlinge a new area for walking and relaxing has emerged. The newly constructed park along the Kävlinge river, offers not only walking paths but excellent fishing spots.Hofterups bogOver the open fields prey birds is often spotted. In the bog on the other hand you can encountermany of the most common smaller birds.Lödde SandskogThe forrest streches west from the E6 down towards the sea and offers several walking paths in different lengths. Here is also a lighted track. The forrest has a miscellaneous terrain and a very rich bird life. The forrest also contains a open space for barbecuing and games.Lödde/Kävlinge riverThe kävlinge river which flows from Vombsjön into Lomma bay was early an entrance, a doorway to Skåne. Contacts where established along the river, commerce developed and eventually trading places, villages and smaller communities grew up. Today it's the areas great natural beauty and the variety of activities that entices people. The fishing in Kävlinge river is internationally famous. From Vombsjön out to Öresund Kävlinge river offers 50 km of beautiful canoeing paths.SalvikenFor the bird watcher Salviken is an eldorado almost at all timesduring the year. It's a shallow beach area with pasture land, sandbeaches and meadows. In this miscellaneous environment is a rich birdfauna. In the south there is a bathing place which is frequently usedduring the summer.
